Dr Robert Lim graduated from University of St Andrews (Medical Science) and University of Edinburgh (M.B.ChB). He obtained his postgraduate training in Internal Medicine followed by Hematology and Medical Oncology at Cornell University Medical College, New York Hospital. Dr Lim is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, Edinburgh (FRCP) and has certifications in the American Board of Internal Medicine, Hematology and Medical Oncology.

n 1998, upon his return to Singapore, he developed his expertise in gastrointestinal, hepatic and pancreatic cancers. Dr Lim’s clinical skills and interests are also in the areas of genitourinary cancers, lymphomas, lung and breast cancers. As the Head of the Department of Hematology — Oncology at the National University Cancer Institute, Singapore (NCIS) from 2005 to 2012, Dr Lim led the department to the forefront of research at the campus and in Singapore. In particular, understanding the effects of chemotherapy agents especially among Asians. He was pivotal in the setting up of the NCIS from its inception and served as its Associate Director till 2012.

Dr Lim has been a member of the Specialist Training Committee in Medical Oncology, and has trained many doctors both in internal medicine and oncology. He is actively involved in the training of trainee doctors in Medical Oncology. Dr Lim is passionate about educating the public about the benefits of cancer screening and the latest developments in cancer treatments. He is currently a committee member of Dover Park Hospice.
