Bariatric surgery, better known as weight loss surgery is the specialty in which patients undergo the procedures for the treatment of obesity. It is also known as Bariatric and Metabolic surgery due to the strong evidence of improved co-morbidities together with weight loss, such as improvements in diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obstructive sleep apnoea, fatty liver.
