Plastic Surgery

Plastic surgery involves the restoration, recon-struction, or alteration of the human body. It can be divided into two main categories; recon-structive and cosmetic surgery. Reconstructive surgery includes craniofacial sur-gery, hand surgery, microsurgery, breast cancer surgery and the treatment of burns. These are performed to restore the appearance and func-tion. Cosmetic plastic surgery includes surgical and nonsurgical procedures to enhance and reshape structures of the body to improve appearance and confidence. An example is liposuction; a common procedure to reshape and contour common problem areas like the midsection and thighs.
