Prof. Meng became one the country’s first fully trained ophthalmologists after completing his studies at the University of Health Sciences and later at the Mahidol University in Bangkok, Thailand. With the field of ophthalmology still relatively new and unexplored in Cambodia, he brought back new ideas, skills and knowledge from his time in Thailand, especially from training under the late Dr. Uthai Rutnin. This included the infancy of Meng Rutnin Eye Specialists which was founded in collaboration with the Rutnin Eye Hospital in Bangkok in 2001. Ever since its infancy, Meng Rutnin Eye Specialists continues to offer the premium eye care with high standard and safety to patients by attracting doctors and staff of the highest calibre.
Currently, Prof. Meng is heavily involved in the Cambodian Ophthalmology Society, where he is founder and former president and is the director of the Khmer Soviet Friendship Hospital for the past eight years.
