Dr. Victor Lee graduated from the medical school at National University of Singapore in 1998. He obtained his membership diploma for surgery in 2001 from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He then proceeded to complete his advanced surgical training at the Singapore General Hospital and the National Cancer Centre Singapore. Having completed the Joint Speciality Fellowship in General Surgery examination in Hong Kong with subspeciality interest in Hepatobiliary Surgery, he was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh) in 2007. In the same year, he was admitted as a fellow in the Academy of Medicine (Surgery). He is currently a member of the Singapore Transplantation Society, International Liver Transplant Society, The Transplantation Society and International Pancreas & Islet Transplant Association.

Dr. Lee’s clinical skills and interests are in the areas of transplant surgery, hepatobiliary pancreatic surgery and laparoscopic surgery. Dr. Lee was awarded the Human Manpower Development Programme scholarship in 2008 for transplant surgery. He was appointed as Clinical Fellow in Transplantation Surgery at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, United Kingdom from 2008 to 2009. In his fellowship year, he is formally trained in liver transplants, kidney transplants and simultaneous pancreas kidney transplants, in addition to complex hepatobiliary pancreatic surgery. Dr Victor Lee is an experienced laparoscopic surgeon for cholecystectomy and liver resection. He has been an invited speaker for many international and regional conferences, in particular for single site “scarless” surgery. In addition, he has performed live demonstrations in laparoscopic and single-site surgery, and proctored many surgeons. Dr Lee is also a recipient of the National Medical Research Council Research Fellowship in 2005.

In addition, he holds a Master of Science in Bioinformatics. His academic thesis was on utilizing microarray (gene chip) technology in liver cancer research. His research interests encompass two main areas in liver cancer: novel biomarkers and microarray technology for disease prognostication and class discovery, for which he has been awarded several competitive research grants. He is also actively involved in medical device innovation, and has registered US patents for his work. He was recently awarded a National Research Foundation grant in 2015 for a 3-dimensional endoscopy navigational device. He has authored several publications in peer-reviewed journals, and is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education with his appointment as Adjunct Assistant Professor and Clinical Examiner in Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore.
