Infectious Diseases

Infectious disease is a specialty that deals with conditions caused by micro-organisms such as bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites. Examples are Hepatitis B and C, dengue fever, tuberculo-sis and influenza. Infectious diseases cause a wide spectrum of illnesses which can spread in a variety of ways; by direct or indirect contact with infected per-sons, or through the air. Some of these can be managed at home using antibiotics and other medications, while others will need treatment in an isolated facility of a hospital. This is to ensure due diligence in con-taining and preventing the spread of the dis-ease.
