Hip replacement surgery is a surgical procedure in which hip joint is replaced by a prosthetic implant, i.e. a hip prosthesis. Hip replacement surgery can be performed as a total replacement or a hemi replacement. Knee replacement surgery or knee arthroplasty, is a surgical procedure to replace the weight-bearing surfaces of the knee joint to relieve pain and disability. It is most commonly per-formed for osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and psoriatic arthritis. Makoplasty, a minimally-invasive surgery that uses robotic-arm technology; is also a surgical treatment designed to relieve pain in the knee caused by the wear and tear of joint cartilage.
